I agree with this whole thing! I saw The Great Gatsby three times (which was probably overkill, but whatever because Leo DiCaprio), and I was thinking the exact same thing. It’s just so tragic and no matter what Gatsby does, it won’t be enough for Daisy, because she does have a past, and it’s not like she can erase that.

And this is just going off on a tangent here, but what is kind of awkward is seeing this movie with your tc in the exact same theater and then discussing it alone in his class the next day.
